What drew you to this career?
My journey into this profession began with a passion for bringing people together and creating memorable experiences! I've always been fascinated by the intricate details that go into planning and executing events, whether it's small field trips or all school events. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to create memorable experiences for students and their families!
What is your process when planning events? Since you serve a wide variety of ages, what things do you prioritize and consider for each of the grade levels?
I start by understanding each age group's interests and setting clear goals. For elementary students, it's all about fun, interactive activities, such as offering a mix of physical activities, creative workshops, and educational field trips. While middle/high school students might prefer something a bit more challenging. I love hearing what everyone enjoyed most and what we could do better next time. Flexibility is key too; I’m always ready to tweak things to ensure everyone has a fantastic time!
What has been a really rewarding/ stand out moment in your career?
A standout moment in my career was organizing the 2023 graduation ceremony. It was incredibly rewarding to witness the culmination of years of hard work and dedication for both students and their families. Seeing the pride and joy on the faces of graduates, as they received their diplomas and embarked on the next chapter of their lives, was a truly memorable experience.
Any advice for other educators or those looking to enter the field?
Embrace lifelong learning, education is a dynamic field that constantly evolves. Be adaptable, education is full of unexpected challenges and changes. Staying passionate and connected to the purpose of education keeps you motivated to make a positive impact on the lives of students.
What is your favorite resource offered by the public library? How do you utilize it in your career or personal life?
My favorite resource offered by the public library is its extensive collection of eBooks and audiobooks. I utilize this resource both in my personal life for leisure reading and, in my career, to stay updated on relevant topics and professional development materials.
