Medford, Oregon (March 2, 2021)—Jackson County Library Services (JCLS) continues to offer enhanced front door service at all 15 branches. Library hours of operation will remain the same at all locations; for current hours, visit jcls.org/hours-locations.
Librarians are available to answer questions and help with research. All queries are welcome, from up-to-date, accurate information about COVID-19 vaccines, small business resources, and tax forms, to information about how to apply for college financial aid, resources for wildfire relief, or remote learning support. Send your questions or requests to information@jcls.org or call 541-774-8689 (Medford Library) or 541-774-6996 (Ashland Library).
The popular Library of Things and Take & Make kits are available during enhanced front door service. The Library’s extensive digital collection includes audiobooks, eBooks, digital magazines, streaming movies, and music downloads. JCLS Digital Services Specialists support patrons in learning how to access the library’s digital collection, as well as provide help with general tech questions or goals, such as using Microsoft Office Suite, accessing databases, setting up email, and more. Email questions or requests to digitalservices@jcls.org or call 541-734-3990 to schedule an appointment via phone call or Zoom. For questions about your holds or account, email circulation@jcls.org.
The Library continues to provide diverse virtual programming, including new storytime programs each week, author talks, lectures, and more. Visit bit.ly/jclsevents to register for upcoming programs, or jcls.org/youtube to view past presentations.
While in-person browsing is unavailable, patrons are encouraged to use the JCLS Discovery online form to request personalized recommendations and book advice. A JCLS staff member will curate a customized list of up to 15 books for patrons within 3 days, and titles can be placed on hold directly from the list of recommendations. Patrons may also browse the online catalog and staff booklists and subscribe to the Library Connect blog at jcls.org/blog to find recommendations. Limited in-person advice is also available at each branch; patrons are encouraged to call ahead to schedule this service.
Patrons may place holds on library materials and, once notified they are available, pick up held items during front door service hours. Patrons seeking to limit public contact are invited to call ahead to arrange for items to be checked out and made ready for pick-up at the door upon arrival. A library card or photo ID is required to collect items.
Patrons age five and older are required to wear a mask when picking up items in accordance with Oregon’s statewide mask mandate; plastic full-face shields are discouraged and are not recommended by OHA (Oregon Health Authority) or the CDC (Centers for Disease Control). Smaller, plastic mouth or chin shields are not an acceptable face covering. Patrons who cannot wear a mask for personal, medical, or other reasons, or who remove their face covering while in the library, will not be permitted to enter or remain in the library, but may request accommodation for picking up materials outside in a socially distanced manner that protects staff and the community.
Computer sessions will remain available during open hours on the hour only, and are first-come, first-served. Patrons are limited to a single 50-minute session per day. Mobile printing is available at all branches; learn more at jcls.org/computer_wifi/printing. Patrons who utilize computers or in-person services must follow all safety protocols, including wearing a mask.
