Medford, OR (September 18, 2024) – Join Jackson County Library Services and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Evison on Thursday, September 26 at 5:30pm for an in-person author talk in celebration of Banned Books Week. This event will take place in the Grand Reading Room upstairs at the Medford Library. Attendees will be able to purchase copies of Lawn Boy following the talk, just in time for the exclusive author signing! For people who can’t make it to Medford, the talk will also be live streamed from the Ashland and Jacksonville branches.

Evison will discuss his novel Lawn Boy, a coming-of-age story about a young man on a journey to discover himself and his search to find the secret to achieving the American dream of happiness and prosperity. Written for adults, the novel found crossover appeal for young adults, leading to Evison’s novel making it to the number 2 spot on the American Library Association’s Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2021 list. Evison is the author of 8 published novels including West of HereThe Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, Again and Again, and the forthcoming The Heart of Winter.

He is the recipient of numerous awards, including The American Library Association’s Alex Award, The Washington State Book Award, two Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award, and the Housatonic Award.
