The final phase increases hours at all 15 branches starting April 10
Medford, Oregon (April 10, 2023) — Jackson County Library Services (JCLS) will complete its two-phased approach to expanding open hours by 30% across the fifteen-branch system beginning Monday, April 10.
In December 2022, JCLS implemented the first phase of hours expansion at the Medford and Ashland branches. Previously closed on Thursdays (Medford) and Fridays (Ashland), both branches are now open seven days a week.
The second and final phase of hours expansion will involve all 15 branches in the system. With this expansion, JCLS locations will be open 137 more hours per week. Eleven of the 15 branches will be open an additional day each week. Thirteen branches will also include evening hours on Thursdays, with most locations closing at 7 p.m. Complete schedules of the new hours are listed below, along with dates for ribbon-cutting events at select branches to celebrate the expanded hours.
“These additional open hours mean our region will have increased access to the internet, early literacy materials, pleasure reading and movies, and more opportunities to get assistance from information professionals,” said Kelda Vath, JCLS Assistant Director of Support Services.
“Our communities have been asking for expanded service hours for over three years, and we are excited to be able to offer more access to our library resources,” said Library Director Kari May. “With a more consistent schedule across the system, we hope that you will be able to find a library open when you need one.”

Due to a planned HVAC replacement, the Ashland Library will provide front door services through Sunday, April 23 at the Siskiyou entrance only, Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 12 Noon to 5 p.m. The Ashland Library’s new, expanded schedule will be implemented when the library reopens on Monday, April 24.
