Book Advice

It’s the moment every book-lover knows all too well—you’ve reached the final page of a book you’ve absolutely loved. You linger on the last sentence, re-reading it a few times, stalling, savoring these final moments. As soon as your eyes drift up, the pangs of mourning take hold. You are lost, adrift without a heading. What can you read that could possibly compare to this last high? We’ve been there. We know what it’s like. We can help! Book Advice will give you all the tools you need to find your next favorite book. Our trained library staff at all JCLS branches are here to help, but if you’d prefer to use online resources, we’ve got some suggestions! 

JCLS DISCOVERY

Get personal recommendations by filling out this form to let us know what books interest you. A staff member will curate a customized list of up to 15 books for you within about 3 days. From there, place a hold on any of the titles you want to check out!

EXPLORE CATALOG LISTS

Use the library catalog to explore staff curated lists, award-winning books, new titles, and bestsellers. In many cases, you can find published reviews of books as well as links to similar titles and authors from each title’s record.

READERS’ ADVISORY DATABASES

Books and Authors and NoveList to find read-a-likes that remind you of your favorite books, browse by book characteristics, run powerful custom searches, and get reader feedback to find the perfect fit. You can also get to know more about your favorite authors, and get book discussion guides for your book club!

LIBRARY CONNECT BLOG
