Larry Smith, bass player and music professor at Rogue Community College, will create original music in a live looping session using songs inspired by or featured in the Rogue Reads selection Music is History by Questlove. Live looping involves recording, layering, and texturing tracks in real time to create a performance. Audience participation is invited, and there be discussion about how music evokes community, connection to history, and collective emotional meaning. A short Q&A will follow the performance with a chance for attendees to explore sounds in the live looping set-up.

Live looping involves recording, layering, and texturing tracks in real time to create a performance. Audience participation is invited, and there be discussion about how music evokes community, connection to history, and collective emotional meaning. A short Q&A will follow the performance with a chance for attendees to explore sounds in the live looping set-up.
