Mister G, also known as Ben Gundersheimer, is the author of Baby Ballena, the book featured in this year’s StoryWalk®. A Grammy Award–winning children’s musician and educator, Mister G is known for creating engaging, bilingual stories and songs that celebrate language, culture, and the natural world. Baby Ballena follows a young gray whale named Juana on her first migration from Mexico to Alaska. Born in a warm Mexican lagoon, Juana travels north with her pod, encountering ocean wildlife, landmarks, and dangers like orcas and fishing nets along the way. After feeding in Alaska for the summer, she returns home to Mexico, where the migration cycle begins again with a new baby whale. The story combines gentle storytelling, marine-life facts, and colorful illustrations to introduce young readers to whale migration and ocean ecosystems.
Latin Grammy Award winner Mister G will be performing live at the Medford Library's Family Night Out/ Noche de Familia!
This free, family-friendly event is presented in collaboration with the Britt Festival.
