From September 15 through October 15, join JCLS in celebrating the histories, cultures, creativity, and contributions of Latinx communities. This year, we’re proud to feature local artist Adriano Martinez and his artwork, created especially for the celebration. Artist bio

Meet Adriano Martinez

Hello! My name is Adriano, but you can call me Drawno. I am an Ecuadorian artist living and working in Central Point, Oregon. I enjoy all sorts of different media; currently diving deep into working with ink on paper. I am passionate about exploring different lines and patterns. I have worked with several musicians and collaborated with multiple artists. I have pieces featured all around the world. Art is a way for me to connect with a force that is beyond this world and share that vision with people.

About the Piece

I had so much fun working on this piece! I appreciate JCLS so much for giving me full freedom to express myself with this project, while including elements that relate to our beloved libraries. From musical instruments and shapes that resemble books and building structures, the main goal for my drawings is to let people use their imagination as they make sense of all the lines and shapes that interact with one another in their very own world of organized chaos.

I decided to very abstractly include the word “READ” somewhere in the artwork for the viewers to find as they navigate through this very special piece. The original drawing was done using ink on an 11 × 14 sheet of Bristol paper.
