Medford, Oregon (September 21, 2020)—Jackson County Library Services (JCLS) will host a book and toy drive for families affected by the Almeda and Obenchain Fires. Donations of new or gently used books, toys, and games for youth ages 0-18 can be dropped off at the Medford Library. Donations will be accepted in the lobby near the circulation desk Monday, September 21 through Sunday, September 27 during open library hours: 12 noon–4:00 p.m. every day except Thursday.

Donations of soft goods, such as stuffed animals, blankets, or clothes cannot be accepted. To limit potential exposure to Covid-19, donated items will be quarantined prior to becoming available for pick-up.

Families in need of books, toys, and games can pick up items at the Ashland, Central Point, Jacksonville, Medford, or White City libraries beginning Thursday, October 1 during open library hours. Families are encouraged to check the JCLS website for current branch hours or call ahead to confirm open times for selecting items at the libraries.

"Happiness is essential,” said Brystan Strong, JCLS Youth Services Coordinator. “What we are doing with this drive is helping the youth and families in our communities who have lost so much to rebuild their lives and start adding that happiness back in."
