to the Jackson County Library Services Strategic Planning website.  We launched this effort in October 2015 and have engaged the Jackson County community, library staff, the district board and key stakeholders to develop a new Jackson County Library Services Strategic Plan for 2016 – 2021.    This website provides a brief synthesis of this community-wide strategic planning process.

The Strategic Planning process is the method that will determine our long term goals and develop the vision and mission that will guide our forward path.  Our task is to survey the current landscape, identify key technological, economic and social trends and to think boldly about the library’s place as a major component of Jackson County’s strong education system.

Our libraries delivery high quality public education for all ages.  Through the library’s strategic planning process the dialogue has been focused on a Three Dimensional model of education.  People approach learning and education with a wide variety of approaches and techniques that fit the unique needs of the Jackson County community.  The Three Dimensional model considers the library’s role in self-directed education, research assistance and teaching/instruction.

The planning process includes library staff visioning sessions, community workshops, and focus group meetings.  We will conduct an in-depth demographic analysis using state of the art analytical tools such as Analytics on Demand from GALE Cengage Learning.  The planning process is anchored by a Blue Ribbon Committee that is responsible for developing the mission and vision statements for Jackson County Library Services.  The Blue Ribbon Commission will recommend the strategic long-term goals and objectives for the 2016 – 2021 Strategic Plan.
