Comic Con 2017

The Medford Comic Con was created by the Jackson County Library Services staff, inspired by the Klamath County Library Comic Con. With little time, few resources, and a lot of enthusiasm, the Medford Branch Library hosted the very first Medford Comic Con on a hot afternoon on Friday, July 31, 2015, to celebrate the summer reading program theme, "Every Hero has a Story." Approximately 2,000 people showed up that day. It was the most successful event the library had ever hosted up to that point!

In 2016, JCLS teamed up with Rogue Community College to host the second Medford Comic Con on Saturday, April 30, 2016. About 5,000 people attended in 2016. We had more workshops, vendors, and family friendly activities. Our costume contest tripled the number of participants from 2015. We also added a Fan Art contest and hosted food trucks on Bartlett Street.

JCLS and RCC hosted the third annual Medford Comic Con on Saturday, April 29, 2017. The response was overwhelming with more events, presenters, and over 12,000 in attendance from all over the country!

The Medford Comic Con is the most enthusiastically-received event for the public library in history. What we are most proud of is that we have created a safe, free, and family friendly space for local members of the community to meet other fans of the arts, technology, and popular culture. This event also supports Downtown Medford, local businesses and artists, creators and makers of all types! The Medford Comic Con serves the mission statement of the Jackson County Library District to connect everyone to information, ideas, and each other.
