Friends of the Talent Library

The Friends of the Talent Library usually meet every fourth Friday at 1:30 p.m. (except June and July) at the Talent Branch Library. New members are welcome. For more information, call the library at 541-535-4163 or visit the Friends Website.

Major booksales are held in May, September and December with a smaller ongoing Friends booksale in the library all year long. Prices are very reasonable.

Storytimes

Puppets talk and everyone sings at preschool storytime, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

Snacking is encouraged at Afternoon Storytime and Snacks, Thursdays from October through May, 3:30 p.m.

Education

Aspiring students of all ages learn new skills at Ann Hinds weekly drawing class Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.	Student art show display covering the Meeting Room walls.

	Book discussion group meets every third Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
	Local travellers share their visits to the Galapagos Islands, Singapore and Japan in Community Room presentations.

Monthly displays with artistic and educational themes enchant patrons.

Community Meeting Rooms

The Lisa Laursen Thirkill Meeting Room seats 85, with kitchen facilities, and can be divided into two smaller rooms. The large study room seats 8 and can be used as a mini-classroom. For more information or reservations, call the library at 541-535-4163.

Community Commons

Social events reinforce Talent's sense of community.

	Free Friday night movies at 6 p.m. (moving to Saturday in June 2011) cross all ages and bring strangers together with laughter and tears. Contact the Talent Branch for dates and titles or pick up a bookmark at the library.
	Cupcakes were consumed with delight at the Cupcake Social in June of 2010.

Dungeons & Dragons helps the younger generation learn cooperation and creativity in a non-threatening environment, Saturdays, 2 p.m.

Wii (tm) games are for everyone. Second Saturday of each month at 1 p.m.

Art

Centennial Art honors Talent's 100-year birthday with a community quilt. The Talent Branch Library served as the focal point for participation in this project.

A rotating display of Elementary School art brings excitement, beauty, and admiring parents to the Children's Area.	Fabric posters designed by Talent Elementary School children.
The Centennial Quilt! Doors provide an entry to the Past and view of the Present.

Internet

The Talent Branch Library has computer workstations for Internet use and wordprocessing (Microsoft Office/Word) programs. Wireless access is available throughout the building.
