Fish Sculptures
Local residents, Art and Marian Sugden, and artist Mel Coffman donated fish sculptures to the Shady Cove Branch Library.
Friends of the Library
The Shady Cove Friends of the Library meet on the first Tuesday of every month (except December, July, and August) at 6:00 p.m. at the Shady Cove Library. For more information, please contact the Shady Cove Branch Library at 541-878-2270 or visit the Friends of the Shady Cove Library Web site.
Shady Cove Branch Library’s Book Nook
Books are for sale the second Tuesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. in the “Book Nook” (adjacent to the community meeting room) in the Shady Cove Branch Library. You’ll find great prices on everything – including paperbacks, hardbacks, and children’s books. The Friends also sponsor an ongoing book sale inside the library.
Brian’s Birthday Book Program
The Friends of the Shady Cove Library are again sponsoring Brian’s Birthday Book—a book gift program—for the children of Shady Cove, Trail, and surrounding areas. From ages 2 through 5, children are eligible to receive a free book on their birthday. Parents will receive a folder with great information about sparking their child’s interest in reading.
The program was originally started by an anonymous donor and funded for the first year. Now all funds are raised by the Friends of the Shady Cove Library through book sales, a donation jar at the Library, and through various programs.
Parents may register their children at the Shady Cove Library during open hours and children do not need a library card to register.
Aaaarrrr, Mateys!
Celebrate “International Talk Like a Pirate Day” at the Shady Cove Branch Library on the third Tuesday in September. Enjoy fun games, challenge yourself with the “I Spy” pirate treasure display, and show your true “Pirattitude.”
Art on Display
Shady Cove has artwork on display year-round by Upper Rogue artists and area school children. A reception takes place quarterly to honor the new art displays. The art hanging system was funded in part with a grant from the Jackson County Coalition, a part of the Oregon Cultural Trust.
